Call For Art

We encourage experimental work and want to meet artists working to push art in new and exciting directions.  All inquiries are welcome and will be given serious consideration.

Calendula Gallery is both a consignment and traditional gallery.

Scroll down for info on both, and current Calls For Art.

Lavender Road - Consignment Gallery

In Lavender Road, artists rent the wall space and keep 100% of their commission. Calendula Gallery staff take care of sales during open hours. Artists can also join us to set up special tables during Spring and Fall art crawls, First Friday art crawls and other special events. The 13 foot ceilings, well-lit rooms and long spacious walls can accommodate both large format and smaller scale art.

Artists set their own prices and keep 100% of their sales.

We work with artists to ensure all work is displayed to its best advantage and provide technical support for installation as needed.  We also promote artists through social media, special events and classes, leveraging our hours to coincide with local events including Lowertown art crawls and local festivals.

Apply for Consignment Space

The Poppy Room - a traditional gallery hosting solo and group exhibits.

Artists of all media are encouraged to apply.  The space is 19.5 x 19 ft with 13 ft ceilings.  Fully enclosed at the center of Lavender Road, it can be used for a variety of art forms, including traditional visual art exhibits, installations, multi-media, performance and more.  Dimensions below can assist you in your application.

Gather and Grow

A View of Beauty, Bounty and Community within Farmers’ Markets

As spring approaches, Calendula Gallery eagerly anticipates the vibrant return of the farmer’s’ market right outside our window - always a well anticipated sign of renewal. Farmers’ markets everywhere offer more than just an abundance of fresh foods, lively colors, and enticing aromas; they foster a profound sense of human connection and community spirit.

Calendula Gallery invites artists to submit artwork for the upcoming juried exhibit, Gather and Grow. We are seeking creative interpretations that capture the unique atmosphere of farmers’ markets, from the vivid hues of local produce to the compelling stories of the people who gather there. Hosted in the Poppy Room of Calendula Gallery, the exhibit will have a direct view of the expansive Lowertown St. Paul Farmers’ Market through the gallery windows, merging art and life.

All artistic mediums are welcome.  Artwork submitted will be reviewed and selected by Calendula Gallery and representatives from the St. Paul Farmer’s Market.

Calls for Resistance Art

Calendula Gallery welcomes resistance art for exhibition in our open spaces. To participate, please email us a photo of your work; once approved, we’ll coordinate arrangements for display. Due to limited space, we may rotate pieces to give more artists the opportunity to be featured.

We stand firmly against the unjust mass deportations of immigrants and the unconstitutional presence of the military in our cities. Calendula Gallery fully supports the community’s right to peacefully assemble and make their voices heard. Visual art is a powerful form of expression, and we are committed to uplifting the voices of artists and those directly affected by these issues.
